WHAT TO DO FOR A SUCCESSFUL NEW YEAR

“WHAT TO DO FOR A SUCCESSFUL NEW YEAR”

LORD, BLESS US THIS NEW YEAR THAT OUR LIFE MAY BE BETTER AND HELP US TO HAVE A CLOSER WALK WITH THEE. AMEN

Last year was a year full of trials and tribulations as well as joys and good times for just about all of us.  Each of us has had happy moments we want to remember for years to come as well as sad moments we wish to forget. But thru it all, the Lord our God kept us wrapped in His arms of protection, and we should be able to say regardless of what happened last year, “THANK YOU JESUS, you’ve been so good to me”!

I believe this New Year can and will be a good year if every one of us would do the following:

First, learn and remember to always put the Lord first in everything we do.  If it had not been for the Lord on our side, tell me where would we be.  We should seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness first, and all things shall be added unto us.  Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy

ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.

Second, we need to forget our past sins.  All of us have sinned and come short of the glory of God.  If we say that we have no sin, we deceived ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  If God can forgive us, we need to learn to love ourselves enough to do the same.

Third, we need to forget our past failures.  Why let the blunders of yesterday handicap the hand of today.  If at first, you don’t succeed try, try again.  Perhaps some of you have tried to guide a person to Christ without success, and you have said “That’s not for me, or you tried to teach a Sunday School Class, and the children were just about impossible and you said, “That’s not for me,” or maybe you tried to pray or speak in public and the words failed to come, and you said, “That’s not for me, “ but, my Brothers and Sisters it is for you and I.  If we don’t do it, it won’t get done.  Never, never give up for winners never quit, and quitters never win.  You can do it if you put your mind to it.  Just do your best, God will do the rest, and you shall have success.

Finally, we need to forget our past sorrows.  All of us at some time or another have had our hearts broken.  Tears are the common crush of humanity.  What are we to do with the sorrowful experiences of life?  We must bring them to Jesus thru prayer.  Some of us permit the shattering experiences of life to destroy our usefulness.  But that kind of spirit is self-destroying.  As the psalmist wrote, “weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning”! With Jesus, trouble doesn’t last always.  It rains so we can appreciate the sunshine, always keep in mind the words of the songwriter who wrote, “When peace, like a river attendeth my way, When sorrows like sea billows roll, whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say, “It is well, it is well with my soul”!

Yes, I do believe if we would put God first; forget our past sins, failures, and sorrows everything will be all right in this New Year.  If you don’t believe it, just try and learn to Praise Him no matter what you are going through. Do your Praise Dance; mine is called The Holy Ghost Slide! Yes, when struggles come my way I just, by His grace, slide on through! So in this NEW YEAR Slide Baby Slide!!!
