“DON’T BE A FOOL GET UP AND GO TO SCHOOL” Day
LORD, PROTECT OUR CHILDREN THIS SCHOOL YEAR. HELP THEM TO BE SUCCESSFUL AND OPEN TO LEARNING. AMEN
Time has come once again for school doors to open and school bells to ring. Parents are happy, and students should be too because a good education based on sound wisdom is a gift from God. Life is hard, but a good education makes it easier. So develop your mind and your inner powers by having faith in God and getting a good education.
Robert M. Hutchins once wrote: “Education is not to reform students or amuse them or to make them expert technicians. It is to unsettle their minds, widen their horizons, inflame their intellects and teach them to think straight, if possible!” In other words, an education teaches you how to think and do for yourself. For nobody will do for you, what you have the power to do for yourself. It also teaches you how to live as well as how to make a living. I believe regardless of your race, color or creed and education is a necessary ingredient for survival in America, and it is something nobody can take from you.
So go to school, get all you can and remember when you cheat, you are only cheating yourself. Those of you who came out of school for some reason or another, the same way you dropped out is the same way you can drop back in.
Now, let me say its’ good to be a star in sports, but you still need to be a star in the classroom because you should never let any part of your body take you where your mind can’t keep you. And there is some of you who think you don’t need an education because you’re going to get rich on your good looks. So let me open your mind to this one thing: ‘Yesterdays’ Glamour and Today’s charm will never pay Tomorrows’ Rent!
Yes, my brothers and sisters, have faith in God, get a good education and always be the man or woman of your word. Do what must be done, when it must be done. Have high goals, reaching for the stars, realizing that there is no tragedy in not reaching your goal; the tragedy is not having a goal to reach. Always remember, you can be in the slum, but the slum doesn’t have to be in you. It’s not where you came from that counts; it’s where you are going that matters.
And to you it should matter because you are Gods’ child – His creation. In other words, it should matter to you because You Are Somebody! Somebody created and made in the image of God. And the God of the universe, the God who so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son never did and never will make junk!
Be all you can be, make good use of your life realizing it’s not how long you live but how well you live. But whatever you do strive to be the best, God will do the rest, and you shall be a success.
So Don’t Be A Fool – Get Up and Go to School – And You Will Always Be Cool!!!!
