WHICH BONE ARE YOU ?

June 10th

It’s a “Which Bone Are You ?” Day.

LORD, WE GIVE YOU PRAISE ON THIS WONDERFUL DAY, AND WE ASK THAT YOU SHOW US THE WAY TO MAKE A CHANGE IN OUR COMMUNITY. AMEN.

Sunday while I was in church sitting in the pulpit I looked over the congregation, and I asked God to give me a scripture to read. I opened up my Bible, and I came upon the following verse: “Sometime later, I felt the Lord’s power take control of me, and his Spirit carried me to a valley full of bones. The Lord showed me all around, and everywhere I looked I saw bones that were dried out. He said, “Ezekiel, son of man, can these bones come back to life?” I replied, “Lord God, only you can answer that.” (Ezekiel 37:1-3).

Once again I looked at the congregation, and The Lord gave me this thought.

There are two hundred or more bones in the body. But in sorting out people we

only need four.

First, we have the Wishbone People. They are the folk who wish and hope for

change in the community, but that’s all they do. They just wish and hope but

aren’t willing to try.

Second, we have the Funny-bone People. They are the folk who act like life is a big

joke and want to party all the time. They are too busy having a good time to

make a change in the community. They are not serious enough to make life

better for themselves or others.

Third, we have the Jawbone People. They are the folk who are all talk and no action.

They talk the talk but aren’t willing to walk the walk. They give lip service but not

life service. They even gossip and complain about others who are doing the work.

Yes, they talk about changing the community, and that’s all it is, just talk.

Finally, we have the Backbone People. They are the folk who do all the work. They are the ones who make the changes that make life better for all. They don’t mind putting their lives on the line. They don’t mind going to a meeting. They don’t mind working on a committee. They don’t mind donating money to the cause. They are the people we can always count on to lead the way. They are the ones who will talk the talk and walk the walk. I thank God for them because they are the Backbone of our community, and they don’t mind taking a stand to make a difference.

So I ask you which bone are you?
