HOW TO DEAL WITH GRIEF

February 27th

It’s a “How To Deal With Grief” Day

WE AFFIRM THAT GOD IS OUR VERY HELP IN THE TIME OF TROUBLE. THEREFORE, WE PRAISE HIM NOW AND FOREVER. AMEN.

Bereavement is the path we take to go through grief. Grief is a healthy and natural reaction that we have to a significant loss.  Most of us associate grief with the death of a loved one but we can grieve for a number of different reasons, such as infertility, miscarriage or stillbirth, birth defects, brain injury, chronic illness, negative change in one’s way of living, even transitions due to job loss, moving, financial problems, divorce or separation. As you can see all of us have or will grieve at one time or another for it is a part of life.

JESUS said, “Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted!” So how do we deal with grief? How do we find comfort? I’m so glad you asked.

First, we must accept the loss or the change in our lives. Denial causes us to block the reality of what has happened. Grief is a process that takes time and the length of time is different for each situation and each person. So acceptance is the first step to healing and getting through the trauma of the situation.

Second, we need to seek support and create positive reactive activities to our grief. In other words, seek to counsel, join a support group or develop a change organization in honor of your loved one. Write a book or article about your experience. But whatever you do, don’t just stay in your grief moment and deal with it alone. If you do, it will kill you. Do you hear me? Seek help my friend seek help!

Lastly, take your grief to the LORD in prayer and praise HIM. Prayer will give you the comfort that is promised by JESUS and praising HIM will give you the strength to hold on and hold out. Prayer and Praise will carry you through. I’m reminded of a couple of hymns we sang when I was a child attending church with my grandmother.

One went like this: “You just ask the SAVOIR to help you, comfort, strengthen and keep you. JESUS is willing to aid you; HE will carry you through.” The other says: “Be not dismayed what-e’er be-tide, GOD will take care of you. Beneath HIS wings of love abide. GOD will take care of you. GOD will take care of you. Thru every day, O’er all the way. HE will take care of you. GOD will take care of you.” Yes, HE will. You have to believe and lean on HIS promise and HIS word. Can I get a witness?

Beloved, say this with me, “In and thru my grief I will trust HIM because earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.” Boy, I feel a praise coming on up in here, up in here. Go ahead it’s all right to praise HIM; I’m not going to talk about you and call you crazy! LOL.  Amen Somebody Amen.
