YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

IT’S A YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY.

OUR FATHER WHICH ARE IN HEAVEN WE BLESS YOUR NAME WITH OUR LIPS AND OUR ACTIONS TOWARDS AND FOR ONE ANOTHER. AMEN.

We all have songs that we remember from our past that helped shaped our way of thinking. For me, other than the many gospel songs my grandmother taught me, I would hasten to say it was two songs by The Godfather of Soul, James Brown. One was “Say it loud I’m black and I’m proud” and the other uses the phrase “Talking loud and saying nothing!” Now I take that to mean that a person is all talk and no action. We have a lot of people like that in our community. They talk the talk but they don’t walk the walk. They complain about the problems in our cities such as: youth and domestic violence, poor schools, drug dealing and addiction, just to name a few, but they present no action towards solving the problem. O’ I hear you say; “What can I do? I’m just me. I’m just one person.” Well you can do a lot. You can make a difference. When was the last time you really spent some quality time with a young person? When was the last time you went to a school board or community meeting? When was the last time you volunteered at a youth center? When was the last time you voted in an election? When was the last time you went to the school in your neighborhood to make it better? When was the last time your Fraternal, Church, Civic, Social or Masonic group gave out scholarships to help some young person go to college? If life is going to get better for our children we have to do more than talk a good game. The Bible speaks of Jesus teaching His disciples about service and He basically says we must feed the hungry, clothe the naked and visit the sick and those in prison. For when we do this we do this to HIM and for HIM. People we must be hearers of the word as well as doers of the word. If we don’t we make the words of Brother Brown so true. “We’re talking loud and saying (doing) nothing.” Ask yourself if I die today, what will people say of me? Will they say I made a difference in a child’s life? What type of legacy am I leaving? Will they say you made a way or will they say you were in the way? Think about it! Pray about it and Do something about it! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN!
